Humuhumunukunukuapua' a (Picasso Triggerfish)
The Hawaiian state fish, Humuhumunukunuku apu' a a means "snout like a pig". According to locals, it also grunts like a pig when pulled from the water. Common in shallow reef flats, it feeds on spiny sea urchins which it is able to attack due to the superior position of its eyes. When threatened it will use its "trigger" or spiny dorsal fin as a defense, imbedding it in the flesh of potential predators.
